MomoCon Features Comic Guests: Mark Russel, Kate Leth, Christopher Jones, Jenvieve Broomall


Do you dream of becoming a comic book writer or artist for a big publishing house like Marvel or DC? Do you plan to host your own webcomic? These artists and writers have made a name for themselves illustrating and scripting some of our favorite stories and characters. Meet them this year at MomoCon!

Registration for the event is open now. Spanning four days in Atlanta, Georgia, this is the largest yearly event in the area. If you’re a fan of comics, anime, or gaming, you owe it yourself to attend at least one of the days. And if you want to start a career in the field, there’s no better place to learn the industry and network than at a large con like this.

Focus on your area of interest and talk to as many of the professionals as possible. They’ll be happy to tell you how they got started and what their workday looks like.

He’s best known for his run on The Flintstones, the reboot of Prez with teenage president Beth Ross, and the twin books God is Disappointed in You and Apocrypha Now. It takes a smart man to create comedy, and Mark Russell is one of the best. Meet him this year at MomoCon!

Kate Leth is a prolific comics writer and artist who has worked for big houses and produces her own crowd-funded series as well. She isAdventure Time the perfect example of a self-starter making it big. She dropped out of photography school but became interested in comics while working at her local Canadian comic shop. She started her own webcomic, Kate or Die, which became popular enough to be picked up by the Comics Alliance. Her fanart got her a contract working for BOOm! Studios on Adventure Time. She went on to write Dynamite’s Vampirella and Marvel’s Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat!

Christopher Jones is a successful artist who has worked on Batman, Avengers, and Dr. Who titles. From children’s comics to horror titles, he’s penciled and penned it all. You can talk to him about all things art and purchase original prints if you like. Eminently friendly, he’s happy to chat with anyone and take pictures. Pick his brain about how to improve your own art and how to start as a working artist.

Jenevieve Broomall is a cover artist who regularly contracts with smaller but notable publishing houses, such as Valiant, Devil’s Due, IDW, and Aspen. She’s very personable and willing to talk about the tools she uses and how she manages her home/work life. She’s a self-taught stay-at-home mom who loves going to conventions and visiting with colleagues and fans.
